GOOD things come to those who wait – and that is why Michael Smith has that top of the world feeling after taking out the biggest prize in darts after beating Dutch ace Michael van Gerwen.
The 32-year-old St Helens darter has suffered many a heartache, losing eight previous televised finals, but that corner was turned in November with the Grand Slam.
And now he has the crowning glory of the prestigious Sid Waddell trophy and pockets the tidy £500,000 in prize money.
Now he just wants to bring the trophy back to a hometown used to silverware from the Saints – but this is one that has attracted global attention.
The Star's Mike Critchley caught up with Bully Boy this morning - sleep-deprived, but still in the afterglow of last night's huge victory.
