A CHINESE takeaway in St Helens has been given a new one-star hygiene rating.
The Great Wall, on Pocket Nook Street, Fingerpost, was given the low score after an assessment on November 24, the Food Standards Agency's website shows.
From a score of zero to five, food hygiene ratings are given to food handling businesses after an inspection has assessed how well they comply with food safety laws.

The rating reflects the standards of food hygiene found on the date of the inspection by the local authority.
It is the third food establishment (takeaways, restaurants, or cafes) to be handed the low hygiene rating in the borough.
Fingerpost Pizzeria and Tony's The Spicy Chicken also have the one-out-of-five rating on the Food Standards Agency website.
The assessment at The Great Wall found that improvement is necessary for hygienic food handling as well as the cleanliness and condition of the building.
The management of food safety is said to need major improvements.
No St Helens takeaways, restaurants, or cafes have scored the lowest hygiene rating of zero-out-of-five.
