THE owners of a burger shop in Earlestown have announced that they will be open on Christmas Day to serve free food.

Mohammed Miah and Abdul Rouf co-own Good Burgers on Stanley Street and have decided to open on Sunday, December 25 to ensure those struggling during the cost-of-living crisis have a special Christmas.

The burger and milkshake joint opened in the town centre in October and has since been welcomed by residents and other businesses.

The lifelong friends joined Earlestown with a vision to introduce smash burgers to the area; a dish that's popular around their area in Oldham.

The business partners announced that they will open on Christmas Day with a heart-warming post on social media.

Discussing the decision to open on Christmas Day, Abdul Rouf, who also owns Amans Restaurant on Newton High Street, said: "I've done something similar with Amans during lockdown to help people out and deliver to local hospitals, but I thought since we have Good Burgers in Earlestown we wanted to help people around that area as well.

"We were going to close but then we thought, there are people out there on Christmas Day who don't have families or can't have warm food, so if they come into Good Burgers, they can sit down, enjoy a meal and have a laugh with us.

"So that's why we've decided to open; to give something back to homeless people or people who aren't able to celebrate Christmas properly."

The business owner also mentioned that Christmas music will be played at the restaurant to get people into the festive spirit.

Good Burgers will be open from 1pm till 3pm on Christmas Day.
