ITV’S Good Morning Britain is broadcasting live from Whiston Hospital today.
The show, hosted by Kate Garraway and Richard Madeley, is discussing the winter pressures faced by the NHS.
The past weekend is believed to be one of the most challenging faced by the hospital this year.
The show and its panellists are based in the outpatients department as part of the NHS frontline Madelely said the hospital had just faced its busiest weekend on record.
The show featured a video diary from ward sister Vicky Booth, who had been on a shift on Saturday night.
The ward sister described the intense pressures faced by the hospital, which had led to patients waiting in corridors.
She said: "I’ve just finished my shift on A&E, it’s been a very challenging night for everyone.
'Credit to the nurses and the dedication they have shown.'

“It’s very difficult at the moment, but we are an amazing team here and we’ll keep going because we love what we do.”
There has been a focus on hospital initiatives to free up beds during winter.
Presenters have stressed that patients attending appointments today will not be on camera and that it is business as usual in the hospital.
