A MAN charged with attempted murder of a police officer who was detaining a suspect allegedly armed with a knife and a bottle has made a first court appearance.
Thomas McComish, 33, appeared at Wirral Magistrates' Court on Thursday, December 8.
Police charged Mccomish in connection with a disturbance in Fingerpost on Monday night, December 5.
At around 9.20pm, officers were informed that a man was on Parr Mount Street in possession of weapons, believed to be a bottle and a knife.
The area was searched and a man was seen close to The Mount Church on Traverse Street.
Police say a suspect was reportedly aggressive and still in possession of the weapons.
He was disarmed and detained.
One of the officers suffered "a minor injury" and no members of the public were harmed, police say.

McComish, of Morgan Street, Parr was charged with attempted murder; attempt to cause GBH with intent; possession of a bladed article in a public place and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.
McComish, appeared in court on Thursday, December 8.
During the hearing, the 33-year-old was remanded back into custody and the case was sent to Liverpool Crown Court.
McComish is next due to appear for a plea hearing at the higher court on the morning of Thursday, January 5, 2023.
