THE licensee of a newly refurbished pub is hoping to give the people of St Helens a comfortable environment to enjoy a "traditional British" boozer in the town.
The Lamb pub, on Corporation Street, has undergone a whole sale transformation over the past four months ahead of long-awaited big relaunch.
Licensee Anthony Murtagh admitted to a few nerves ahead of the reopening but said he was "excited" about getting up and running.

The Lamb will have a selection of five real ales per day, and real ciders, among its offerings.
The bar room will screen live sport on television screens, with a quieter lounge room for people to chat and socialise at the other end of the boozer.
"I'm a bit nervous as I don't want to let the town down, I know people have been looking forward to it reopening."
Anthony, 45, runs family business Denis Murtagh Electrical after a temporary job with his dad’s firm became permanent two decades ago. This was following an injury he had suffered playing football, which required a knee reconstruction, although his background had been in the hospitality industry.
He did a degree in hospitality and management and worked in hotels in Manchester and Leeds.
Anthony, who has harboured an ambition of running a pub or bar, says it was a case of "now or never" for him to follow his dream and he is looking to give the Lamb a new era after the pub has undergone several different landlords over recent years.
After overcoming all the hurdles and delays during renovation, he is delighted to be finally reopening the pub's doors and welcome customers in.
"It is going to be a traditional British pub, it has a nice lounge area for conversing, and in the bar area we'll have sports on the TVs.
"We want it to be somewhere people feel comfortable, a nice environment. I just want to give people in St Helens somewhere nice to drink.
The pub also has an extensive wine menu and is looking to offer a basic food menu down the line in the new year.
"People say, you can only get a nice glass of wine in the Bottle and Glass, so we want somewhere you can have a good glass of wine in a safe environment."
The Lamb has reopened its doors today, Friday, December 9.
