POLICE have thanked the public for their help after reports of concern for an elderly woman who was seen wandering on a street.
Officers received reports from residents on Wednesday afternoon, December 7, of an elderly woman in the area of Bleak Hill Road, Windle.
Police confirmed the woman has been identified and her family informed.
Police thanked people for their support and for sharing an appeal they had issued over the matter.
In a statement this morning, officers said: "Further to our previous post around the female that was located at Tesco, Windle.
"Thanks to the people of St Helens who got in touch, she has now been identified and family have been informed.
"She is now safe in the care of the NHS who are checking her over. Thank you again for all the re-posts and support, brilliant to see people pulling together to help."

A Merseyside Police spokeswoman added: "We had a report at around 4pm yesterday (Wednesday) of concern for an elderly woman found wandering around Bleak Hill Road area.
"She was located and returned home safe and well."
