PLANS to create an outbuilding for a beauty salon in a back garden have been approved by the council.

Proposals were submitted to St Helens Council to construct a detached outbuilding in a rear garden to enable the creation of a beauty salon, with associated parking to front.

The proposals, sent by applicants Graham and Alison Wall, relate to a property in St Mary's Avenue, Billinge.

The application stated there would be one full-time employee at the salon and proposed business hours were 9am to 6pm on weekdays, and 8am to 5pm on Saturdays.

In a report, case officer Alex Ball recommended the application for approval.

It stated: "The applicant has confirmed that there would be approximately five customers a day with a minimum of a 15-minute gap in between clients so no one is waiting and gives the applicant time to prepare the room for the next client.

"The location is considered to be of a sustainable location with good access to public transport.

"The development would support a small scale business".

Formal permission was granted.
