ST HELENS Council has given a new expected completion date of works at a busy junction which have overrrun due to "unforeseen delays".
Temporary traffic lights have been in place at the junction of Boundary Rad, with Lingholme Road and Kirkland Street since works began in October.
The works to upgrade the traffic signals at the junction were expected to take six weeks and be finished by November 25.
However, unforeseen delays have put this date back.
The works have caused traffic delays and congestion in the area.

A St Helens Council spokesperson said: "Unfortunately there have been several unforeseen delays with these works, including discovery of previously unknown utility services which we've had to work around.
"We appreciate that this is a key junction in the area and operatives are working hard to complete the works as soon as possible. We expect completion by Wednesday, December 21, if not sooner.
"We apologise for the disruption during these necessary junction signal works, and any inconvenience caused by the delay."
