A DOG sadly died after being involved in a crash on the motorway yesterday, Sunday.

The dog, which had found its way onto the eastbound carriageway of the M62, was hit by a vehicle, which is then believed to have been hit by another vehicle.

The accident occurred at around 10.20am between junction 10 for the M6 at Croft Interchange and junction 11 for Birchwood.

One person was medically trapped in their vehicle and was safely released by firefighters.

Two fire engines from Birchwood and Warrington fire stations attended, as did a fire crew from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service.

An air ambulance was also requested to the scene initially, however it was then determined that it was not required, with the person handed into the care of paramedics.

Police closed two lanes while emergency services were at the scene, with crews being in attendance for approximately 50 minutes.

A spokesman for Cheshire Police said: “At 10.16am on Sunday, November 27, officers were made aware of a minor collision on the M62 between junctions 10 and 11.

“The collision involved two cars, a white Peugeot panel van and white land rover, one of which is believed to have collided with a dog.

“One person was released by firefighters and taken to Warrington Hospital. Their injuries are not believed to be serious.”
