THE mum of a six-year-old boy who gave a bunch of flowers to a classmate after learning she was being ‘picked on’ says she is ‘proud of how compassionate he is.’

Last week, Megan Hazelby was on the group chat on Facebook with other parents of students who attend Blackbrook St Mary’s when she saw a post saying that a little girl in her son Carter Gill’s year was being bullied.

Megan, 25, said: “The post from the girl’s mum said she was really sad and wanted to move schools over it, I couldn’t believe it so I asked my son Carter about it and he was so sad.

“He said ‘Is there something nice I can do for her because I don’t want her to be sad and leave school?’ and I said yes you can what do you think would be nice to do and he replied ‘get her a bunch of flowers’.

“I was so proud of him so we went to the shop and he chose a bunch of flowers and gave them to her in the playground.

“Her mum got in touch to say thankyou and he even got a message back from the girl and a box of chocolates. He’s only six.

“No child should be bullied, but I’m so proud of how compassionate Carter is.

“He’d give away his last chocolate button he really would.

“Hopefully that will make a difference to her.”

The letter Carter got back said: “To Carter, Thank you for the lovely flowers. It really made my day. Thank you for being a kind friend.”
