TWO people have been taken to hospital following a crash which caused huge tailbacks on the motorway this morning, Thursday.
The accident occurred shortly before 6am on the M6 southbound between junctions 21a for the M62 at Croft Interchange to 21 for Woolston, on the approach to Thelwall Viaduct.
Traffic is easing following the two-car crash, which led to two lanes being blocked and nine miles of queues back to junction 25 for Bryn.
The accident also saw slow traffic in surrounding areas including Newton-le-Willows and Winwick as people tried to avoid the M6.
A spokesman for Cheshire Police said: “Officers were called at around 5.50am today, Thursday, November 24, to the M6 between junctions 21A to 21 southbound.
“This was following reports of a collision involving a white Vauxhall Corsa and a black and blue Toyota Yaris.
“The drivers of both vehicles were taken to hospital with minor injuries.
“The road was blocked while recovery took place.”
