AN independent business has praised its "little helpers" for a successful Christmas fair.

The Little Scent Studio, a homemade scented wax business, regularly holds events to raise money for charities, with its festive fair an annual favourite.

Samantha Beales, owner of the business, has dedicated her fundraisers to health services and independent charities, including Alder Hey Children's Hospital, as she is forever grateful for their services when she was a patient there.

Samantha has a heart condition and underwent her first keyhole surgery just four days after she was born, and since then, has made it her mission to pay them back with her business.

The Christmas fair was held at St Patrick's Social Club in Newton-le-Willows, which saw the event raise over £500 for Ruben's Roar, a newly-established bereavement charity.

Discussing the event's success, Samantha said: "In the end, we raised around £506.50, which is an incredible amount.

"It brought tears to my eyes to announce it to the room; Ruben’s family are so grateful for the donation and it’ll go a long way to helping families who have suffered the loss of a child.

"We have such an incredible community and all the stalls were amazing too. I couldn’t do any of it without my little helpers, they were incredible and really helped bring the Christmas spirit.

"Can’t wait for next years."
