AN ARTIST whose passion helped him survive as a creative through the tribulations of the Covid lockdowns has expended his studio to a new location.
Andrew Johnson, from Thatto Heath, has taken the bold step to relocate to the former Pilkington Head Office building at Alexandra Park, on Prescot Road.
He decided to move his art business, Andrew Alan Art, to the listed building, which stands testament to St Helens’ proud industrial heritage.

Andrew previously featured in the Star when he donated an artwork to an online art auction to support charities at grassroots levels during the height of the pandemic.
Andrew's work focuses mainly on his inspiration from nature. He has always had a good eye for colour and combines this with thick paint textures to create “uplifting artworks”.
Andrew said: “I have felt drawn to including bees in my work. This is a nod to the pollinators of the planet that we humans need to survive.”
With his “colourful and uplifting” artworks, Andrew, 49, has secured loyal followers and clients from overseas, especially in the USA, as well as in this country.
In the spring Andrew says he intends to create an art event in his new space that will see art for sale to suit all budgets.
