A MOTORIST fled the scene after being involved in a four-vehicle crash on Thursday, police say.

Officers are looking for the driver of a silver Mitsubishi Colt car, who failed to stop after the crash in Fingerpost.

Emergency services attended the collision at the roundabout of Parr Street and Linkway East shortly before noon.

The other cars involved in the crash were a red Citroen C1, a white Ford Eco Sport, and a grey Vauxhall Mocca.

No-one was injured in the collision, a police spokeswoman said.

The Merseyside Police spokeswoman said: "We can confirm we received a report of a collision involving four cars in in St Helens yesterday, Thursday, November 17.

"At around 11.50am officers were called to a report of a collision at the roundabout of Parr Street and Linkway East where the driver of a silver Mitsubishi Colt car failed to stop.

"The other vehicles involved were a red Citroen C1, a white Ford Eco Sport, and a grey Vauxhall Mocca. No injuries were reported."

She added: "Parr Street was closed while the incident was dealt with and later reopened.

"An investigation is underway to locate the driver of the silver Mitsubishi Colt to help with inquiries.

"Officers are appealing for witnesses and drivers who were in the vicinity at that time to come forward to help with the investigation." 

A fire and rescue service spokeswoman added: "Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service was called to the junction of Linkway East and Parr Street, St Helens, on Thursday, November 17.

"Crews were alerted at 12.07pm and on scene at 12.11pm. Two fire engines attended.

"On arrival crews found a collision involving four vehicles. No one was trapped in the vehicles and no action was required from MFRS.

The incident was handed over to Merseyside Police and fire crews left the scene at 12.29pm."
