RESIDENTS are being warned that flooding is possible during a period of heavy downpours.
It comes as the Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for the area for heavy rain.
The warning will come into effect from midnight tonight, Wednesday, and it will remain in force for 24 hours.
Forecasters say that as well as flooding, difficult driving conditions are predicted, as is disruption to transport.
A Met Office spokesman said: “Outbreaks of rain, heavy at times, will move northwards across the Midlands, north Wales and northern England during Wednesday night, persisting through much of Thursday.
“Widely, 30 to 40mm of rain is likely to fall over a 24-hour period, with a small chance over 60mm in a few places and perhaps as much as 80mm over higher ground.
“This brings a chance of flooding and disruption.
“The rain is expected to become less widespread and more intermittent during Thursday night.”
