THE festive season is upon us, with local businesses and organisations ready to hold Christmas events.
Christmas markets, festive fairs, and Santa projects are taking place across the borough, with some set to begin this weekend.
To help find the ideal festive outing, here are six Christmas events happening near you:
Christmas Markets - Newton-le-Willows
The High Street Hive has become a well-known committe around Newton, with its contribution to community events appreciated by locals.
The Hive is continuing its annual event as it prepares to hold its Christmas Market next month.
The festive event will take place on Sunday December 4 on Newton High Street at noon.
The market will see stalls set up by local businesses accompanied by festive music.
Winter Wonderland - Earlestown
Local businesses and organisations in Earlestown are getting ready to host a Winter Wonderland in the town centre's markets.
The event will see artisan stalls, festive drinks, and a bookable Santa Grotto.
The event will take place on Sunday December 11 from 12-4pm.

Church Square Shopping Centre's Christmas Celebrations - St Helens
This festive-filled event will see Father Christmas visit the shopping centre each weekend from Saturday November 26 to Sunday December 18.
He will also be joined by his head elf, with treats to be provided to children following their time with the Christmas duo.
Their visits will be every weekend from 10am-4pm.
Christmas Fair - Newton-le-Willows
This Christmas fair is taking place this weekend and is an opportunity to donate to charity.
Samantha Beales, owner of the Little Scent Studio, is hosting the event to raise money towards Ruben's Roar, a newly established bereavement charity.
The fair will take place at St Patrick's Social Club this Saturday, November 19, between 1pm-5pm.
Christmas Fayre - Denton's Green
This festive event is also taking place this weekend.
Deafness Resource Centre on Denton's Green will see 25 stalls promoting local talent, a children’s grotto, and refreshments.
The Christmas Fayre will be held at the centre on Saturday, November 19, from 11am-3pm.
Christmas craft and gift fair - Haydock
Haydock Park Racecourse is getting ready to hold a festive craft and gift fair in December.
The event will take place indoors on Sunday December 4 between 10am-4pm.
Christmas Maker's Market - St Helens
This festive event will be a charity fundraiser on Sunday November 27.
The market will be held at Bishop Road's Police Club from 12-4pm.
