A SCHOOL showed its support by taking part in Odd Socks Day for Anti-Bullying Week. 

Staff and students at Hope Academy, in Newton-le-Willows, stood together to celebrate uniqueness and individuality by wearing different pairs of socks to school. 

Yesterday marked the start of Anti-Bullying Week, aiming at raising awareness of bullying in children and young people.

Amy Green, assistant principal and mental health leader at Hope Academy, said: "We are celebrating Anti-Bullying Week at school and Odd Socks Day is a chance to celebrate our uniqueness, individuality and unite in our collective respect and tolerance for all people.

"It is a special day where we can all express ourselves and show kindness to others.

"Students also spent time writing positive and kind messages to each other during Inspire Time, which is another important way to show solidarity and support for each other during Anti-Bullying Week."

The school is also set to hold a Santa Dash for Alder Hey Children’s Hospital on Monday December 5, where students will be running for one hour to raise money for the hospital.
