THERE are traffic delays up to Haydock Island after a crash on the M6 in Cheshire.
Accident investigation work is taking place with the Thelwall Viaduct in Lymm closed.

There is congestion in surrounding areas, including southbound up to Junction 23 at Haydock Island.

Live traffic tracker Inrix stated just after 7.30am: "M6 Thelwall Viaduct Northbound closed, queueing traffic due to accident investigation work from J20 M56 J9 (Lymm Interchange) to J21 A57 Manchester Road (Woolston).
"Congestion to the surrounding areas including Grappenhall and Warrington as people divert around the closure.
"Queuing traffic on the Southbound carriageway back to J23 (Haydock) as onlookers slow to look at the incident.
"Very slow traffic on the M56 Eastbound side bac. The road has been shut after a serious accident in the early hours. The A50 link road from the M56 Westbound at J9 is also closed."
