A BOOK full of secrets is about to hit the shelves in shops across the country and fulfil the dreams of one St Helens author.
The Hooters is the mysterious first novel penned by primary school teacher and private tutor Amy Watson.
It centres around Benjamin and his dad as they deal with the loss of Benjamin’s mother and lock themselves away to ignore the world without her in it.
Until one day they are visited by a beautiful creature with familiar eyes, who they believe holds her soul, and they set out to live a nocturnal life so they can be a family again.
Amy, who lives in Rainford, has lived in St Helens since the age of 12, attending St Helens College before moving to Nottingham to complete a degree.
The 31-year-old has always been a writer and enjoyed reading, using the process as a kind of escapism.
Having her first book published is a childhood dream come true.
Amy said: “I have always loved reading and writing as a hobby.
“It’s therapeutic and a good method of escapism.
“I have always kept journals and gratitude diaries, making up stories for family and for school projects along the way.
“The Hooters is my first novel and it’s always been my dream to write and publish a book so I’m feeling very proud to have achieved it.”
The Hooters, which is 110 pages long, follows the story of Samuel Collins who becomes intrigued by the silent house at the end of his street and he wonders what secrets his reclusive neighbours keep.
It will be published by Olympia on Thursday, November 24 and will be available to pre order on Amazon later this week.
Amy added: “I am currently working on a couple of books.
“One is ready but I need an illustrator as it’s for younger children and another novel is nearly complete.
“It’s an exciting time!”
