A SALON owner is "devastated" to move out of her studio in St Helens.

Lisa Ireland from Haydock has been the owner of The Hair Team for over 19 years and is now starting a new chapter with a home-based salon.

The decision to move out of the premises on Cambridge Road followed the salon owner’s struggle to find a tenant for the additional chairs.

The space became available to rent following the departure of other stylists, who Lisa supports on their new ventures.

Lisa said: "Lockdown was a massive part of it. I’ve tried my absolute best to rent more chairs out, with no luck from anyone wanting to rent them.

"The lady we rent off has been amazing, but I feel like it had just come to the right time; the salon got too big for me, so I thought I could go home to go smaller.

"It’s heart-breaking. I’ve been through a lot personally, and the salon’s been my comfort blanket, so the thought of coming away from there at this time is absolutely devastating."

The mum-of-two will continue her services at her home in Haydock, with clients already set on following Lisa on her new venture.

The 41-year-old added: "The anxiety is there, but a lot of my clients have said to me that they will follow me no matter what, because not only am I their hairdresser, but I also become their friend as well.

"I struggle with childcare, so having to work from home to be able to work around my life as well is going to work out a lot better for me.

"They may feel like it’s a lot better because it’s a lot more of a personal experience because it’s smaller and one-to-one."

The Hair Team salon will officially close its doors on December 23, with Lisa thankful for everyone who has supported her on her new chapter.
