A TERRIFIED mum has shared CCTV footage after the "armed burglars" who broke into her property are still on the run.

The woman, who doesn't want to be identified, said that she and her family have been living in fear since the terrifying ordeal back in June.

As previously reported by the Star, masked burglars are reported to have broken into a property on Cumberland Crescent, Haydock, in the early hours of Wednesday, June 15.

Believed to be a targeted offence, four offenders are reported to have entered the property through the downstairs window and made their way upstairs armed with "three machetes and a hammer".

The masked burglars are said to have threatened the woman's partner and pointed a machete at her 12-year-old daughter, before getting away with two stolen bikes.

Police launched an investigation into the terrifying incident and were able to locate one of the stolen bikes on nearby Park Road.

However, the mum said that the police have stopped investigating the case due to a "lack of evidence", meaning that the four "armed burglars" are still at large.

As the incident has had a lasting impact on the family, with the 12-year-old girl now living at her grandparents, the mum has shared CCTV footage in an attempt to find those responsible.

While the burglary occurred a few months ago, she hopes that someone will come forward with information in order to ease the family's anxiety and bring the offenders to justice.

Giving a warning to other residents, the mum said: "We don't want to scare people but people need to be aware, these people will go to the extremes for what they want.

"They have ruined our lives for the sake of a couple of bikes."

A Merseyside Police spokesperson said: "We can confirm we received a report of an aggravated burglary in Haydock in June and are still appealing for any information that could help our enquiries.

"It was reported at around 3am on 15th June that four males had broken into a home on Cumberland Crescent.

"The males, who were wearing dark clothing and balaclavas, were reportedly armed with weapons.

"They took two electric bikes and left the scene in the direction of Park Street.

"Since the incident, officers have carried out an extensive investigation and are still appealing for information.

"If anyone has any information that can assist the investigation, please come forward with the reference 22000412837."
