MOTORISTS are being warned that roadworks are continuing to cause delays on a key route in Newton-le-Willows.

Church Street, at the junction of Southworth Road and Mill Lane, is expected to see multi-way signals in place November 9.

The signals - which have been in place since the end of September - are in operation from 7am to 7pm every day due to a gas main being installed as part of the Parkside Link Road scheme.

Commuters are warned of ongoing delays, with the closure nearby Newton railway station.

The street is one of the main routes heading into the Newton High Street.

Energy company Cadent is working on the street to improve the junction for the Parkside Development.

The scheme aims to improve links between the M6 and the Parkside Development, reduce traffic on the A49 and suburban areas, and enhance accessibility for commuters.

Construction of the link road has already begun, with the road aiming to be completed by the end of next year.
