POLICE are investigating allegations of a woman who was "assaulted" in front of her children on Saturday afternoon.
The woman, from Newton-le-Willows, says she was attacked on Sturgess Street, Newton, at around 6pm on Saturday, October 22.
In a statement, Merseyside Police said the incident is reported to have involved five women.
It left the victim with scratches, bruises, and chunks of her hair ripped out.
Merseyside Police said officers are investigating the incident and are appealing for witnesses as part of their investigation.
A spokesperson said: "We can confirm we received an allegation of assault in Newton-le-Willows on Saturday 22 October.
"At around 6.45pm it was reported that there was an incident of disorder involving five women on Sturgess Street with one woman in her 20s allegedly assaulted.
"Enquiries into the incident are ongoing including witness enquires and CCTV, doorbell and dashcam footage."
