A WOMAN who has spent more than a decade in the beauty industry has been recognised with a Top 10 finish in a global competition.
After working in salons across St Helens, Liz Potter, from Eccleston, opened her own beauty business, Elizabeth Charlotte Beauty, just days before the lockdown in 2020.
Despite the financial difficulties that lay ahead, Liz stayed committed to her passion and worked in part-time jobs, while practicing her beauty work in her spare time, in order to keep her business afloat.

Focusing on nails, eyelashes, and eyebrows, Liz now rents space at Blush Beauty Salon on Greenfield Road, Dentons Green.
Following her wealth of experience in the beauty industry and the determination to get her business off the ground, the 28-year-old decided to apply to an online Hair Extensions and Nail competition to judge herself against fellow beauticians.
With more than 4000 entrants from across the world, Liz sent in information about her business and a portfolio of her work, and came in 9th place in the Nail Technician of the Year category.
The 28-year-old was also shortlisted in a prestigious competition at the UK Hair and Beauty Awards earlier this year.
Liz said: "I'm really proud of the award because I've worked really hard over the years to do well in this business.
"I'm always working, advertising my business, and taking on new clients so it's really nice to be recognised for all the hard work I've put in."
After starting her working life as a part-time salon assistant aged 14, Liz has now worked with hundreds of clients across St Helens.
Describing her jobs as "really rewarding", she explained the close bond that she develops with clients who speak to her about whatever is going on in their life.
Given added confidence following her award win, Liz hopes to continue building her business and developing relationships with clients across St Helens and afar.
