THERE were delays on the M62 last night as police were called to reports of concern for safety of a man on a motorway bridge.

Officers received a report of a man on a motorway bridge at the bottom of Windy Arbour, at Junction six.

There was a closure between junctions six and seven while emergency services dealt with the incident.

The man was talked down from the bridge.

A Merseyside Police spokesman said last night: "We can confirm that officers are in attendance on the M62 in Huyton this evening (October 13, 2022)

"At around 7.45pm officers received a report of a concern for safety of a man on a motorway bridge at the bottom of Windy Arbour, Junction 6.

"The M62 at Tarbock Island (Junction 6) has been closed (both Westbound and Eastbound) as a precaution while emergency services are at the scene.

"Motorists are advised to avoid the area.

"Thank you for your patience as we deal with this incident."

The road was reopened later on in the night.
