A CARE home in Newton-le-Willows has recently awarded a local charity with a generous cheque.

Alexandra Care Home, located on Wargrave Road, raised £735 for Business for Youth following their community fundraising festival held at the end of summer.

The registered charity recently received the cheque which will be used towards funding activities and events for youths in the community.

Newton-le-Willows West Councillor Terry Maguire, director of the charity, visited the home to accept the cheque from residents and team members.

The festival presented entertainment and live acts, including a performance by Starlites Morris Dancers.

Both residents and carers at the home also ran fundraising stalls such as a tombola, raffle, and games.

"We’d like to say a big thank you to all the local people and businesses who donated such wonderful prizes for our raffle, tombola and games which included haircuts, cupcakes, flowers, beauty treatments and food hampers.

"Our summer festival was a wonderful event, and it was great to see our community come together for a day of fun and fundraising."
