IF you like Malaysian street food with an ice-cold German beer, why not pop down to St Helens Star readers' pub of the year this weekend as their kick off their Oktoberfest celebrations.

Cinema Bar on Duke Street scooped our Best Pub 2022 award earlier this year after happy customers voted for their local venue.

It serves a wide selection of drinks and has a cocktail of the week and other drinks offers on Thursdays and Sundays but this Saturday, September 17, Cinema Bar will host a pop-up kitchen as they welcome Nasi Lemak – a Manchester-based Malaysian street food business.

Hungry visitors can enjoy sui mai dumplings, rempah fried chicken and crispy king prawns as well as a variety of chips.

They host regular pop-up kitchen nights – usually once a month - for customers to enjoy food while they have a drink and there are already plans in place for an Indian street food event in October and a loaded chips night in November.

Hannah, who has worked in bars since she was 17, said: “We’re all really looking forward to this weekend.

“We’ll kick off Oktoberfest in style with a wide range of Bavarian beers.

“The Malaysian street food looks delicious and there will be live music from 9pm.

“We’re hoping people will pop in and try something a bit different.”

Join the team at Cinema Bar between 2pm and 8pm on Saturday, September 17, with children welcome until 6pm.
