A TWENTY-ONE-YEAR-OLD man has admitted to causing the death of a 14-year-old girl by dangerous driving. 

Haydock High pupil Courtney Ellis died after she was knocked down on Blackbrook Road, Blackbrook by a black Renault Megane at about 9.50pm on September 19, 2020.

Brandon Turton, of Borron Road, Newton-le-Willows, was charged with causing Courtney's death by dangerous driving.

The 21-year-old appeared at Liverpool Crown Court on Monday morning, September 12.

Turton pleaded guilty to the charge and is set to be sentenced on Wednesday this week, September 14.

He was granted bail until then.

After Courtney's death a tribute by mum Angela described her as "a bubbly girl, who loved to be around friends and family, she was so loveable and protective of her peers".

In 2021, a memorial bench was installed and a tree planted to honour Courtney nearby to the scene of the collision.
