THE Middlewich community came together to witness the proclamation of King Charles III.
At 4pm on Sunday, September 11, Middlewich mayor Cllr Colin Coules read out the proclamation for King Charles III at the Bull Ring.
Flags were raised to full mast for this event but lowered again for the period of mourning.
The national period of mourning will continue until the end of the day of the State Funeral and the council will be following national protocol and advice during this time.
Upon the announcement of The Queen’s death, Cllr Coules said: “As mayor, I offer on behalf of the town council and the residents of Middlewich, our deepest sympathies and condolences to all members of the Royal Family and Royal Household.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with them at this difficult time.
“We do not forget that Queen Elizabeth was a much-loved mother and grandmother, as well as our Queen and Sovereign.”
