A ST HELENS veterans support group has become one of the first organisations in the UK to pair with a Veteran's Hub in Ukraine.
Based at the Wonderland Community Centre close to St Helens town centre, No Duff offers a support network for veterans and ex-service members with mental health issues.
Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine earlier this year, the community organisation has been delivering essential supplies into the war-torn country to do what they can to support refugees.
The group has also organised coffee mornings to offer support to Ukranian refugees and help them settle into the community.
Through these contacts, No Duff has made a partnership with a Veteran's Hub inside Kyiv.
Set up to offer support to veterans and the armed forces inside Ukraine, the partnership will also help ensure that future supplies are directed to those who need it most inside the country.
With plans to pay the Veteran's Hub a visit in person, No Duff is currently looking for donations to fund their next trip to deliver essential supplies into Ukraine.
An ambulance was delivered to the group this week which, once roadworthy, will be driven to a designated hospital in Ukraine to deliver supplies of medical aid.
Dean Owen, founder of No Duff, said: "Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine, No Duff UK has been at the forefront of delivering much-needed medical and humanitarian aid into the country.
"This next mission is slightly different from the ones we have already done, which is to get an ambulance across and delivered to a hospital in the south of Ukraine.
"Along the way, we will drop supplies off to those we have supported on previous missions.
"Innocent people caught up in this invasion are dying due to a lack of medical aid and ambulances being unavailable because they are often targeted.
"We need your help getting the ambulance road-worthy, MOT, insured, taxed, looking like an ambulance, and fuel.
"One life lost is one too many."
