SICKENED Star readers have reacted to the news that a masked armed burglar jumped over the bed of a terrified 15-year-old girl brandishing a knife in her home.
Yesterday, the Star reported on the reaction of the girl’s ‘furious’ mum who recalled the details of the harrowing attack.
The mum-of-four, who wants to remain anonymous to protect herself and her daughter, says she was home with her partner talking in their bedroom on Wednesday, August 31 when her 15 year-old daughter thought she saw someone on the landing of their Hard Lane home.
Her mum said: “Me and my partner were talking in our room, this was early hours of the morning, so my daughter came out of her room to see who was on the landing – thinking it was my partner.
“But when she opened her bedroom door she’s seen what looked to be a young man all in black with a balaclava covering his face and holding a knife listening at the door of my room.
“She saw him and screamed and ran into her room and hid under the duvet and he ran in after her and jumped on her bed over her still holding the knife.
“She screamed her head off and he ran out of her room and we heard her scream and saw him as he ran down the stairs from the landing.
“My partner saw the knife and the man said ‘come on then’ and pointed it at him and ran down the stairs.
“We waited a bit but went down after him and downstairs the front and back door was open and my partner ran out and told our neighbour to call the police.
“CCTV showed three men had been in the house, but we only saw one, so I’m guessing the others were downstairs.
“My daughter is traumatised, she’s refusing to come home, she’s staying at her nan's.”
Appalled readers have reacted to the news on social media.

Leanne Bradshaw said: “Stuff of nightmares that this world gets worse”
