A WOMAN from St Helens arrested by detectives investigating the murder of Knowsley Council worker Ashley Dale has been released under investigation.

Officers were called to an address in Leinster Road in Old Swan, Liverpool, at around 12.40am on Sunday, August 21, following reports of concern for a woman at the property. 

Emergency services attended and found Ashley in the rear garden with gunshot wounds to her body.

She was taken to hospital but sadly died a short time later.

Ashley was an environmental health officer at Knowsley Council.

A 48-year-old woman from St Helens was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, police confirmed last Friday.

The woman has been released under investigation, a spokeswoman said. 

It was the fourth arrest detectives have made in the investigation.

A 25-year-old man from Liverpool, a 27-year-old man from Dovecot and a 21-year-old woman from Liverpool remain on conditional bail in relation to the murder of Ashley.
