A HERITAGE centre will display its collection of Pilkington Gala photos over Heritage Open Weekend.
Smithy Heritage Centre in Eccleston is set to showcase the nostalgic photos throughout the two-day event taking place this month.
The photos are digitised slides from Pilkington’s Gala Days between 1968 to 1971.
Joanne Chamberlain, Joint Curator at Smithy Heritage Centre, said: "We will be taking part in this year's Heritage Open Days. Our event is looking at the industry and businesses that made St Helens.
"We’re really excited because it’s nice to have some normality going again. It’s something we’ve took part in right from the very beginning so to actually do it again this year is really nice.
"It’s nice to invite the public back in and show them what we do."
Members of the Northwest Miners Heritage Association will be attending the event to give a talk about their experiences of working in the coal industry.
The centre will also provide refreshments throughout the day.
Heritage Open Days will run across the country and is an opportunity for heritage venues to open their doors to the public.
The open weekend takes place on Saturday September 17 and Sunday September 18 from 12-5pm and will be free to attend.
