THERE is traffic congestion on the M6 near Haydock Island this afternoon, Friday.
According to live traffic tracker Inrix there is queuing traffic in the area due to an earlier broken down vehicle on the M6 southbound from Junction 23 A580 East Lancashire Road (Haydock) to Junction 22 A49 Winwick Link Road (Newton-le-Willows).

Lane one and two (of three) were closed. They have since been reopened as of 2pm.
