DEVASTATED friends have been posting tributes to Jaki Forrest, the 49-year-old who was found dead in Haydock on Wednesday.

Police were contacted on Wednesday morning following concern for the safety of a woman at a property in Piele Road.

Paramedics found the woman, who has now been identified as Jaki Forrest from Haydock, inside the property.

She was confirmed dead at the scene.

In a statement police confirmed a post-mortem has revealed the cause of death as blunt force trauma to the head and manual asphyxiation by strangulation or suffocation.

A 43-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder remains in custody.

A man in his 30s was also found close to the scene with injuries.

He was taken to hospital for treatment for his injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening.

He will continue to be questioned by police officers.

'RIP Princess'

Tributes from shocked and saddened friends have been pouring in on social media.

Jaki has been called "the life and soul" and friends have been left "shocked, devastated and heartbroken to hear you’ve been taken from us".

Jade Lilley said: "Awwww that's so sad it's heartbreaking I really still don't get what makes people think they have the right to take someone's life away from them.

"May she rest in peace now away from the monster who killed her and to her family I'm so sorry you're having to go through this."

Johnny Wright added: "Love and miss u Jaki, RIP Princess."

Sue Joseph said: "RIP Jaki what a lovely girl you was lived life to the full. My thoughts are with your family at this sad time xx"

Sue Byrom added: "Absolutely gutted to hear this. Beautiful Jaki"
