ALMOST 20,000 people will descend on Sherdley Park next weekend as Reminisce Festival returns to St Helens.
Starting as a small nostalgic music festival in 2014, Reminisce has grown into a huge annual event that welcomes around 19,000 music revellers.
On Saturday, September, 10, Reminsce are planning to host their "biggest festival yet", with more than 160 acts and DJs travelling from across the world to play live in Sherdley Park.
With an eclectic mix of old school dance and nineties pop, this year's big names include Five, Boyzlife, Liberty X, Whigfield, and Robin S.
International DJ's from across the decades will also delight crowds across the festival's seven arenas, with special appearances from Fatman Scoop and members of S Club and Girls Aloud also planned.
Despite the popularity of the annual festival, last year's event was marred by controversy, with issues over long queues, internet access, and security concerns.
Following complaints from members of the public, these were put to Reminisce organisers at a St Helens Council Sub-Committee meeting in July, who said they were taking steps to improve what went wrong and ensure the calamity does not happen again.
Considering all of the relevant information, in particular the prevention of crime and disorder, public safety, and the prevention of public nuisance, the Sub-Committee decided to grant the festival its licence to take place again this year.
Reminisce co-founders Steve Cocky said: "We are so grateful that we are back in Sherdley Park for the 8th Reminisce Festival and we are so ready to create yet another unforgettable day for our loyal ravers.”
"It’s been another tough year for the events and music industry with such uncertainty due to current affairs, but our ambition for Reminisce is to make everyone forget their worries, enjoy the music, and dance the day and night away!”.
In Demand Radio will once again be the official media partner, and will be broadcasting exclusive content with the artists and DJs performing as well as on air competitions in the run up to the festival.
Tickets are still on sale for the one-day event, with more details to be found at www.reminiscefestival.com
