St Helens Star:

A man was jailed for the manslaughter of a man from St Helens.


Karl Townsend was jailed on August 5 for 19 years in relation to the death of 31-year-old Jordan Brophy in Halewood last year.

At around 6.30pm on Friday, October 29, 2021, officers were called to a property on Beechwood Avenue to reports that Mr Brophy had been stabbed.

He was taken to hospital where he passed away.

St Helens Star:

A ketamine user who grabbed a woman runner by the neck and dragged her during a “terrifying” attack has been jailed.

Keenan Fairclough, 21, was branded as a “dangerous young man” by a judge as he was sentenced at Liverpool Crown Court on August 22.

Fairclough, who appeared in court via video link from custody, subjected his victim to the ordeal while she had been running down The Score, near to the former Pets' Corner, at Sherdley Park.

During the incident, he dragged her towards a bush before she managed to get away.

Fairclough was jailed for 40 months after pleading guilty to attempted robbery.
