POLICE have released a man under investigation as inquiries continue into an incident in St Helens town centre during which a machete-type weapon was seized.
Officers arrested a man and recovered the blade following the disturbance in St Helens town centre on Saturday night, August 27.
At around 11.30pm, officers were called to North John Street to reports of a man in possession of a "machete-type weapon".

Police say the weapon was reportedly "swung towards" another man by an offender.
A suspect was immediately detained by officers and the weapon seized.
Nobody was injured in the incident, police said.
A 22-year-old man, of no fixed address, was arrested on suspicion of affray, possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, and using threatening/abusive/insulting words/behaviour to cause harassments/alarm distress.
He has been released under investigation pending further inquiries.
