A MAN has been detained under the Mental Health Act after being brought down from a bridge over the St Helens Linkway.
Emergency services were called to the area of Sherdley Bridge this morning, Thursday, August 25. to a report of a concern for safety.
A man was brought down from the bridge and detained under the Mental Health Act, police said.
The fire and rescue service was also in attendance to support police.

A Merseyside Police spokeswoman said: "This morning, Thursday, August 25, we received a report of a concern for safety of a man on the St Helens Linkway.
"Emergency services attended Sherdley Bridge shortly after 5.30am.
"The man was brought down and detained under the Mental Health Act.
"Road closures in place on St Helens Linkway while emergency services dealt with the incident have now been lifted."
