GREAT Eccleston Bake Off is returning for its eighth year.
After a successful seven years prior to the pandemic, the well-enjoyed competition returns next month in search of a new top baker.
The baking contest is traditionally judged by Women’s Institute St Helens and the group will return this year to determine the eighth winner.
Christie Knox, President of Women’s Institute St Helens, said: "We’re thrilled that the Great Eccleston Bake Off is returning to The Smithy this year.
"It’s a wonderful chance for the talented bakers in the community to show off their creativity and skills.
"WISH is honoured and delighted to return to judge the fruits of their labours.
"We always enjoy our visit, and of course the chance to see and sample the cakes is the best part."
The bake off will take place on Sunday September 18 at Eccleston Village Hall.
Those hoping to participate must bring their entries to the hall between 12-3pm along with an entry form and label.
Bakers of all ages and experiences are welcome to enter with prizes and trophies to be won.
The cakes are blind tasted by the panel of judges from Women’s Institute St Helens before a winner and runner up is chosen.
A Best Decorated Cake award will also be given to one of the entries.
For further details on how to enter, contact The Smithy Heritage Centre during its opening hours on 01744 730744.
The centre is open on Sundays between 12-4pm.
