A NEW bar in St Helens town centre is throwing its first family fundraiser this weekend, in homage to the tradition of WestFest.
Eden's bar and restaurant opened up on Westfield Street last month, taking over the premises vacated by Bar Java.
With years of experience within the hospitality industry, Daniel Harvey and his partner Shania Hackwell secured a 10-year lease on the property with a long-term plan for the business.
After the annual tradition of WestFest, which saw live music and dancers at venues up and down Westfield Street, Shania said she wanted to bring back this musical celebration as part of Eden's first public event.
On Sunday, August 28, 'Eden's Fest' will include 12 hours of live music, street food offerings and kids activities such as a bouncy castle, face painting and raffles.
With family members associated with Eden's affected by cancer, the event is also raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support with a small donation asked at the door.
Shania said: "As we have opened up on Westfield Street, we thought it would be great to have our own little festival in a similar vein to WestFest.
"With a lot of us having family members affected by cancer, I thought this was a great way to bring people together and raise money for a great cause, a win-win really!"
Since opening in July, Shania and Daniel have been slowly building their clientele in a venue with a "chilled out atmosphere".
In addition to their food and drinks menu, they have had live music acts in the bar, which also boasts a covered beer garden and a pool table.
Eden's Fest hopes to build on this progress and offer an event with something for everyone, along with the feel-good atmosphere associated with WestFest.
