A LOCAL band is striving for further recognition after being nominated for a regional music award.
Despite only forming around a year ago, Polker have gone from strength to strength in the local music scene.
An "amazing" homecoming gig at the Citadel catalysed a hectic chain of events for the St Helens four-piece, which has included headline gigs and intimate acoustic shows across the North West.
Keeping busy in the studio and recording new music, the band has been put forward as one of the up-and-coming artists to be recognised across Merseyside.
To have the chance to win one of the awards, the public has to vote for them in the Band, Artist, or Rising Act of the Year categories.
The top three voted acts in each category will then be invited to an awards ceremony in Liverpool in November, where the winners will be announced.
Drummer Maddie Hale said: "The Awards is a celebration of all the musical talent across Merseyside.
"We didn't even realise we had been nominated but it's a really nice way to celebrate what we have achieved as a band so far."
"It's been full speed ahead since the Citadel gig earlier in the year, and we have been putting on our own gigs and starting to get headline slots.
"It's been fantastic to see people at our gigs who have supported us from the start as well as seeing more and more new faces."
Aiming to continue striving for success, Polker have more gigs pencilled in throughout the year as well as two new songs waiting to be released.
