POLICE are still appealing for witnesses and CCTV footage after a crash in which 24-year-old Jordan Yates died after a car hit a tree.

Emergency services were called to Scafell Road, Moss Bank at about 2am on Thursday, August 11, to reports of a collision involving a Renault Megane and a tree.

The driver has been identified as Jordan Yates, from St Helens, who sadly died a short time after the crash.

Police said his family is being supported by specialist officers.

A spokeswoman said the investigation into the crash is ongoing.

Officers are still appealing for any witnesses or CCTV footage from the incident.

Flowers were left at the scene on Scafell Road in honour of Jordan following the crash.

Part of one message left among the floral tributes read: "To Jordan, the happiest soul, the party man and all round amazing person! 

"It's hurt the town, the news of you passing, especially the hearts of us in the Duke!"

Another read: "Fly high brother, you will be missed forever, never forgotten. See you on the other side bro".

In a statement after the crash, Detective Sergeant Kurt Timpson, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “Our thoughts and condolences go out to the family of the man who sadly lost his life.

"They are being supported by our specially trained liaison officers while the investigation commences.

“I would appeal to anyone who witnessed this incident or properties in the area that may have CCTV or doorbell footage to please contact us.”
