SAINTS' number two hooker Joey Lussick showed his eye for the gap, footwork and pace to score a solo try from beyond the half way line in the rout against Hull FC on Sunday.
And that showcasing of his skillset will give the former Salford and Parramatta number nine just the tonic he needs after an often frustrating year.
When Lussick was brought over, it was initially expected that he would slowly take over more minutes from James Roby.
However, the Saints skipper has shown little sign of slowing down - so that script was ripped up and for long spells of the year Lussick has been limited in minutes.
That changed a little in recent weeks when Saints sought to plug their half back deficiencies.
On Sunday we saw a few flashes of what Lussick can do - but that was no surprise to coach Kristian Woolf.
He said: "If you back to Round One, it was not quite as far out but it was a similar deception and similar turn of speed to get a really good try against Catalans.
"At different times playing 25 -30 minute stints has been a little bit frustrating for him but if you look over the last six or seven weeks he has had some opportunities with Robes playing in the halves.
"In the last couple of weeks we have had some dramas, in which he has expected to play short minutes but has ended up doing bigger minutes.
"That puts us as a squad in a really strong position going forward that blokes like that are getting more footy.
"James Bell falls into that category as well – and we still have blokes to come back into the squad."
