PLANS to build two properties on land at Rainford Reservoir have been submitted.
A resubmission of an application proposing the erection of two detached dwellings to ‘facilitate the maintenance and preservation’ of the existing reservoir, on Higher Lane, and adjacent woodland has been put forward.
The design and access statement says the application proposes the change of use of an existing man-made commercial fishing dam to a single smaller pond and wetland habitat, facilitated by the construction of two dwellings within/adjacent to the existing car park area.
It adds: “The site is currently used as a private commercial fishing lake.
“It is proposed to cease the commercial fishing on the site as part of this proposal.
“The proposed properties will be residential in nature and have been designed around the existing access road.
“Where possible all materials are to be sourced both locally and sustainably.
“It is proposed to use local labour, trades and businesses where possible for the construction of both properties and the subsequent repairs to the reservoir itself.”
