PLANS to develop two commercial units in Billinge have been submitted.
An application proposing the scheme at Mount Pleasant Farm, on Wigan Road, has been put forward.
It proposes two commercial units, with the provision to sub-divide to create a total of four units, along with associated works, following the removal of two existing agricultural barns.
The application is listed as ‘awaiting decision’.
The design and access statement says the proposed development will ‘function well’ and add to the overall quality of the area.
It adds: “The high quality architectural design will provide attractive commercial units, which are of an appropriate scale surrounded by effective landscaping.
“The proposed development will establish and maintain a strong sense of place, creating an attractive, welcoming and distinctive development.
“The scheme promotes health and well-being by maintaining green open space across the site. The proposed development is fully compliant with the statutory development plan, the neighbourhood plan and national planning policy.
“The proposal is sustainable development as defined by the NPPF and should be approved without delay
“The site at Wigan Road provides an exciting opportunity to create a high quality development which embraces its location with a sympathetic architectural style complemented with high quality landscaping which has character and identity and is accessible to all.
“Our solution will provide a distinctive desirable working environment, which is sympathetic to its surroundings and reflects the styles in the area.
“By drawing inspiration from the local context, we aim to strengthen local identity, whilst providing much needed high quality work space within a complimentary landscaped setting.”
