A DAD-OF-THREE who fell 200 metres down a rock formation and thought he may never walk again has delivered a cheque to the heroes who saved his life.
On February 23, 2021, Imran Choudhury, 37, blacked out and fell 200 metres down a rock formation at Saddleworth Moor in the Peak District.
After being alerted to the serious situation, an 18-strong team from Oldham Mountain Rescue Team arrived to rescue Imran, a former manager at the Pink Pearl Indian restaurant in Newton-le-Willows.
A waiting Yorkshire Air Ambulance then rushed the dad-of-three to Sheffield's Northern General Hospital for urgent medical treatment.
Initially, there were fears that Imran may lose his right leg and never walk again, but after a 14-month journey, he was able to take his leg frame off and start taking his first steps without assistance.
To thank those who helped to save his life, Imran helped to cook hundreds of special Biryani dishes from his family restaurant.
To continue to show his gratitude, he organised multiple fundraisers and charity nights in Newton in order to raise money for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance, which relies on public donations.
Last month, he delivered a check to the Ambulance service with his family worth almost £5000, and says he will now focus on fundraising for the Oldham Mountain Rescue Team.
Imran said: "Whatever I do for Yorkshire Air Ambulance and Oldham Mountain Rescue Team, will not be enough.
"They rescued me to save my life and this is the least I can do.
"They are in my heart forever and I'll be doing one after another throughout my life for them."
