ST HELENS Town start their first game of the new season away to Waterloo Dock AFC at Anfield Sports this Saturday 13 August, 3pm ko.
It’s the beginning of a new era for the Town.
As founder members of the North West Counties League the Blues find themselves relegated to step 7 and into the Liverpool County Premier.
However it’s not all doom and gloom as a St Helens-based consortium including two members of popular local tribute band The Clone Roses have taken over the club to help steer them back up the leagues.
Along with new coaching staff lead by the highly experienced Paul Piert (Peo) there’s a lot of optimism around Ruskin Drive.
Media Manager Mike Bagshaw said: “Due to technicalities of the takeover we find ourselves a few weeks behind other clubs but thanks to the hard work of Peo and all the staff the team have come on so much in a short space of time.
"We’re under no illusion how tough this league is and the quality of the clubs that play in it.”
Towns first home game is against Sefton Athletic at Ruskin Drive, Saturday 20 August, 3pm ko.
