FLORAL tributes have been left at the scene of a crash to 24-year-old Jordan Yates who died after a car hit a tree.

Emergency services were called to Scafell Road, Moss Bank at about 2am to reports of a collision involving a Renault Megane and a tree.

The driver has been officially identified as Jordan Yates, from St Helens. He sadly died a short time after the crash.

In a statement, police said his family is being supported by specialist officers as they continue to appeal for information to assist in their investigation.

Flowers have been left at the scene on Scafell Road in honour of Jordan.

Part of one message left among the floral tributes read: "To Jordan, the happiest soul, the party man and all round amazing person! 

"It's hurt the town, the news of you passing, especially the hearts of us in the Duke!"  

Another read: "Fly high brother, you will be missed forever, never forgotten. See you on the other side bro".

Tributes were also left on the Star's Facebook page.

Shauna Harrison wrote: "Rip Jordan love from your beautiful baby girl… make sure you look down and protect our baby".

Sheila Finney said: "Deepest sympathy to his family and friends , rest in peace Jordan".

Chris Connelly added: "Heartfelt sympathies to his family & friends".

In a statement, Detective Sergeant Kurt Timpson, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “Our thoughts and condolences go out to the family of the man who sadly lost his life this morning.

"They are being supported by our specially trained liaison officers while the investigation commences.

“I would appeal to anyone who witnessed this incident or properties in the area that may have CCTV or doorbell footage to please contact us.”
